And now for something completely different...
Here's a quick look at the potential winners and losers in the Legislature.
In the state House, Republicans hold 23 seats, Democrats 17, including Rep. Richard Foster, a Nome Democrat who caucuses with the GOP. Those numbers are expected to stay the same after election day – but some seat trading is likely.
Republicans are likely to lose five seats, including Reps. Mike Kelly (Fairbanks), Ron Jordan (Anchorage – this is the seat being vacated by Ralph Samuels), and Charisse Millett (Anchorage – Kevin Meyer's seat).
As for the Democrats, the most vulnerable seats are Andrea Doll (Juneau), Scott Kawasaki (Fairbanks), and Bob Buch (Anchorage).
That would leave the House at 23-17, as it is today.
Other House Republicans facing tough races are Peggy Wilson of Wrangell, and Craig Johnson of Anchorage.
In the Senate, the races to watch are the fight in Fairbanks for Gary Wilken's old seat between Democrat Joe Paskvan and Republican Cynthia Henry; and Democrat Dr. Nels Anderson's challenge of incumbent Tom Wagoner on the Peninsula.
