My friend Joe Taft had about 30 big cats at his home in rural Indiana in 1996, when this photo was taken. (Joe isn't shown.) I went back in 2003 and he had more than 100. Joe is one of the few people in the US licensed by the federal government to rescue big cats from abusive homes.
